75th Anniversary Scholarship Recipient: Amy Bessin

As part of the celebration of ACRL’s 75th Anniversary, we’ve asked the ACRL 75th Anniversary scholarship recipients to describe the impact of attending the ACRL 2015 Conference on their professional life and/or their library.

Amy Bessin is the Instructional Services Librarian at Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky.

“I feel so fortunate that I was able to attend the ACRL 2015 conference on an early career librarian scholarship. Having just completed my second year in the profession, this experience was so valuable to me and my library. I am in a brand new position (Instructional Services Librarian) at my university, so it was essential that I have the opportunity to connect with other librarians from across the country and attend dozens of sessions related to my particular job duties. I even met another librarian from Kentucky at ACRL and we ended up teaming up to present at a local conference a few months ago. I am so thankful for the opportunities this scholarship gave me and I hope that many other early career librarians will get to have this experience in the future!”
