75th Anniversary Scholarship Recipient: Darcy Gervasio
As part of the celebration of ACRL’s 75th Anniversary, we’ve asked the ACRL 75th Anniversary scholarship recipients to describe the impact of attending the ACRL 2015 Conference on their professional life and/or their library.
Darcy Gervasio is the Coordinator of Reference Services at Purchase College in Purchase, New York.
“I can say that attending ACRL 2015, which was made possible in part by the scholarship, was a thrilling experience for me. The scholarship made it possible for me to convince my director and provost to reimburse the rest of my travel expenses so that I could travel from New York to Portland to give my conference presentation. Doing the presentation and having my article published in the conference proceedings not only helped me with my tenure requirements, but gave me the chance to share my ideas on ‘slow assessment’ with a national audience. I learned so much at ACRL—particularly from the keynote speakers and presentations on critical literacy—and it was a fabulous and inspiring week.”
