75th Anniversary Scholarship Recipient: Carla Myers

As part of the celebration of ACRL’s 75th Anniversary, we’ve asked the ACRL 75th Anniversary scholarship recipients to describe the impact of attending the ACRL 2015 Conference on their professional life and/or their library.

Carla Myers is the director of Access Services and Scholarly Communications at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs.

“I was one of the recipients of the 2015 ACRL Early Career Librarianship Scholarship. I am so grateful for the support I received through the ACRL Early Career Librarianship Scholarship program. I would not have been able to participate in the 2015 ACRL Conference without the financial assistance the scholarship provided.

The conference was an amazing learning opportunity for me. There were numerous programs offered on scholarly communications issues, so I left the conference with a plethora of new ideas for the ways in which I can improve and support scholarly communications here at UCCS. I also made many new connections with other library professionals who are also interested in scholarly communications issues and have already followed-up with several of them regarding joint-projects that will help support scholarly communications is the library profession.

I want to express my thanks to everyone who contributed to the 2015 ACRL Early Career Librarianship Scholarship program. I very much appreciate the opportunity it provided me!”
