75th Anniversary Scholarship Recipient: Melissa Minds VandeBurgt
As part of the celebration of ACRL’s 75th Anniversary, we’ve asked the ACRL 75th Anniversary scholarship recipients to describe the impact of attending the ACRL 2015 Conference on their professional life and/or their library.
Melissa Minds VandeBurgt is the Archives, Special Collections, and Digital Initiatives Librarian at Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, Florida.
“The ACRL scholarship allowed me to attend the 2015 conference. For me, the most influential component of the conference was the focus on scholarly communication. I attended the pre-conference on scholarly communication and attended many presentations and panels focused throughout the conference on scholarly communication and the open access movement. I left Portland with pages and pages of notes and many new contacts that will incredibly beneficial to me and my library as we embark on implementing a scholarly communication program at my university. I am so very grateful for the opportunity to attend my first ACRL conference. I am looking forward to 2017!!!”
