75th Anniversary Scholarship Recipient: Vanessa Kitchin

As part of the celebration of ACRL’s 75th Anniversary, we’ve asked the ACRL 75th Anniversary scholarship recipients to describe the impact of attending the ACRL 2015 Conference on their professional life and/or their library.

Vanessa Kitchin is the Liaison Librarian at the University of Toronto in Canada.

“I was appointed to the position of Liaison Librarian in April 2014 for three major departments at the University of Toronto: Historical Studies, Political Science, and the Mississauga Academy of Medicine.  Attending ACRL allowed me to meet and discuss with other early-career and senior librarians the complexities and potential for innovation surrounding teaching and instruction. Other programmatic activities at ACRL opened my eyes to new and alternative approaches to active learning as well as research data management. It was a profound and inspiring experience that allowed for the facilitation of new instruction methods and ways of interacting with my faculty. I will be forever grateful for the opportunity to attend!”
