Meet the ACRL Presidents: Wyllis E. Wright

Wyllis E. WrightOver the course of ACRL’s 75th anniversary celebration, we’ll highlight the association’s history by profiling our past presidents.

Wyllis E. Wright (1903-1979) was the 12th president of ACRL, serving from 1949-1950. During that time, he was also the librarian at Williams College in Williamstown, MA. Under his leadership, ACRL worked to increase the allotment of dues to the division, as well as to develop an archive for the division’s records. Prior to his service, Wright served as the first civilian librarian at the Army Medical Library, from 1945-46. Wright was the author of a biography of Colonel Ephraim Williams, benefactor of Williams College, and numerous journal articles.
