We’ve asked the ACRL 2017 Conference scholarship recipients to describe the impact of attending the ACRL 2017 Conference on their professional life and/or their library.
Andrew Johnson is the emerging technologies librarian at the University of Georgia in Athens, GA.
“Being able to attend ACRL 2017 in Baltimore has been immensely beneficial to my work as the emerging technologies librarian at the University of Georgia. I was able to connect and learn from other technology librarians working in academic library makerspaces. Since March, I have been able to reach out to those peers to connect about the niche part of our field. Additionally, ACRL 2017 exposed me to important conversations occurring in LIS, like Nicole Cooke’s work with critical pedagogy.
While I hope to attend future ACRL conferences, I know I will be donating to the scholarships so others may be a part of ACRL conference. Many thanks to all the supporters who made my attendance possible.”
