We’ve asked the ACRL 2017 Conference scholarship recipients to describe the impact of attending the ACRL 2017 Conference on their professional life and/or their library.
Ian Boucher is an emerging technologies and outreach librarian at North Carolina Wesleyan College in Rocky Mount, NC.
“I continue to be grateful for the scholarship that provided me with the opportunity to attend ACRL 2017 and strengthen the difference I can make for my students. Collaborating with this incredible community has provided crucial insight to develop my work in outreach, instruction, and technology—especially for the planning of my library’s very first makerspace. I also would not have had the chance to see the booth for the mobile information literacy game I helped develop: Veratas! My experience at ACRL still moves me, not only in reflecting on Dr. Carla Hayden’s speech, but also in thinking about bringing that same inspiration with me back into librarianship.”
