User Experience (UX)/Assessment Librarian

 The University of Louisville (UofL) Libraries invites applications from creative and self-motivated candidates for the newly-created position of User Experience (UX)/Assessment Librarian.  This dynamic individual will play a key in helping the libraries achieve its 2020 strategic vision of becoming a nationally-recognized model of user-focused, research library services. http://louisville.edu/library/about/docs/Strategic_Plan_2012_2020.pdf

 Responsibilities include: 

  • Collect, analyze and communicate assessment findings to assist the organization in adopting a more data-driven approach to planning and decision-making.
  • Lead the Assessment & Resource Planning Team in creating and implementing an innovative and effective assessment program consistent with the libraries strategic initiatives; collaborate on unit-based assessment efforts.
  • Interact with the various user communities through formal and informal channels to identify their priorities, needs and experiences related to the University Libraries.
  • Coordinate the Undergraduate Student Advisory Board and assist with the creation of additional advisory boards representing other user groups.
  • Improve and manage the libraries program for gathering, archiving and analyzing local statistics on library usage, collections and services; coordinate the response to recurring surveys (ARL, ACRL, etc.).
  • Represent the libraries on assessment issues at the university, regional and national level.
  • Serve as a liaison to a subject area.
  • Share expertise through publications, presentations and other forms of scholarship; participate in service to the profession, university or community.

Required Qualifications

  • Masters degree from an ALA-accredited program or international equivalent in library or information science. 
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in multiple formats to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated commitment to user services.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results in a collaborative environment.
  • Experience with surveys and/or other assessment tools.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of social networking and web tools.
  • Potential to meet promotion and tenure requirements.

 Desirable Qualifications

  • Additional graduate degree in a related discipline.
  • Experience conducting assessment in a library environment.
  • Project coordination experience.
  • Academic library experience.
  • Library public service experience.
  • Experience with library statistics collection and analysis.

This is a full-time, tenure-track position reporting to the Associate Dean for Assessment, Personnel & Research. The anticipated initial rank is Assistant Professor, however the entry rank and salary of the successful candidate are dependent on experience and qualifications.  The University Libraries offer a comprehensive benefits package and annual vacation of 22 working days.
