Please join me in welcoming Patrica A. MacDonald as our Incoming Convener.  She is a wonderful addition to the Residency Interest Group and look forward to working with her in the future.

One more shameless plug for ALA MidWinter.

If you are in Boston for ALA Midwinter be sure and stop by the Residency Interest Group meeting!

In her own words:

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve as co-convener of the ACRL Residency Interest Group. I am the coordinator of a new Residency Librarian Program that began in the fall, 2009, at the Albert S. Cook Library, Towson University, and I am excited about working with the Residency Interest Group to continue to share information, build networking and promote residency programs.

As the Associate University Librarian for Administrative Services at the Albert S. Cook Library, Towson University, Maryland, I am responsible for assessment, staff development, human resources, facilities and other administrative functions. Prior to this position, my experience has been as head of reference and instruction at the Loyola Notre Dame Library in Baltimore and, previously, at the Caroline County Public Library on the eastern shore of Maryland.

My M.L.S. degree is from the University of Maryland, College Park, and my B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley. I started my professional career as a secondary school English teacher and completed an M.A.T. degree at Duke University. My current research interests include web usability and I am in a graduate program in interaction design and information architecture at the University of Baltimore.

When I was young I spent several years in Africa, including work in horticulture as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Lesotho. I still love travel and outdoor adventures, such as hiking, swimming and kayaking, as well as gardening, reading (of course!), and the pleasures of urban life.

Congratulations Patty! I’m sure you’ll bring a lot to the group. Speaking as The Cook Library Resident, Patty has already added a great deal in making my experience a very positive one. You’ll find her to be a great resource.
