Penfield Library at the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications for a full time/12 month, two-year appointment, non-renewable Resident Librarian position.
The SUNY Oswego Library Resident Program helps increase the presence of underrepresented racial and ethnic groups in academic librarianship and brings new perspectives and ideas to Penfield Library. The program is aimed at recent graduates from accredited MLS/MLIS degree programs, and we welcome applications from underrepresented racial and ethnic backgrounds as we work to build a representative and culturally diverse faculty and staff.
The Resident Librarian is a two-year, non-renewable position at the assistant librarian rank. The program will provide the Resident with a broad introduction to the field of academic librarianship, with assignments in reference, instruction, and collection development. In the second year, the Resident will complete a project based on their professional interests and our current needs. Working independently or with a colleague, the Resident will develop, complete, and report research with the prospect of presenting at a professional conference or publishing in a professional journal.
The position is an entry-level librarian position, and includes support for professional development and mentorship. The position will prepare Residents to be highly qualified and competitive in their search for a tenure-track position in an academic library.
