About the Presenter

Cadence Atchinson has served as Online Research and Teaching Librarian at the University of New England since September of 2017, when she became the embedded librarian at the College of Graduate and Professional Studies (CGPS). In 2018, Cadence was selected to participate in MLEL (Maine Libraries Engage and Lead), a yearlong library leadership program run by the Maine State Library that focuses on community engagement.

    Thank you for taking the time to look at my poster!
    My role is structured so that I am physically located with the College of Graduate and Professional Studies two days a week, and the ‘walk-by’ factor is huge; people that might not think to ask a library question will see me and remember they had a library question and ask it right away, which has been a great way to make sure that they’re kept in the loop about library programming and events, and also that I know when they’re looking to redesign a course and want to change out old readings or assignments. Learning how often courses get redesigned has been helpful to me, being able to advocate for OERs and ebooks we already have access to rather than trying to scramble and find whatever text they happen to pick is a way better way to go about supporting a program I think.
