Welcome to the ACRL DLS!
The Distance Learning Section is made up of professionals who work to support the library and research needs of distance and online learning students and faculty. But you don’t need the word “distance” or “online” in your title to be a member of this group. We are distance and online education librarians, instruction librarians, educational technologists, and instructional designers. We are here to help further the conversation, research, and best practices of the field.
The DLS officers and committee chairs want to encourage you to join us in our conversations and activities. You can benefit from our many exciting professional development opportunities such as our virtual discussion groups and webinars. You can network with other librarians who face the same challenges and struggles you do. DLS members have a wide range of interests in online and distance learning, including access, assessment, advocacy, continuing education, instruction, open educational resources, standards, and best practices. If you have not done so, review the Standards for Distance Learning Library Services, a guiding document for anyone working with online or distance students.
We want to hear from you!
