75th Anniversary Scholarship Recipient: Kathrine C. Aydelott
As part of the celebration of ACRL’s 75th Anniversary, we’ve asked the ACRL 75th Anniversary scholarship recipients to describe the impact of attending the ACRL 2015 Conference on their professional life and/or their library.
Kathrine C. Aydelott is Reference/Instruction Librarian at the University of New Hampshire in Durham, NH.
“ACRL 2015 was the first large, national conference I have been able to attend—and my attendance, particularly the valuable preconference, was a direct result of the ACRL Mid-Career Librarian scholarship I was awarded.
As an instruction librarian, it has been essential this year to meet and talk with people who have been using the new ACRL Information Literacy Framework for Higher Education. I have met with colleagues locally and regionally, but to have the opportunity to talk with people on the national level, including people who continue to actively provide supporting materials about the Framework, was priceless. I also felt really special as someone able to attend the Scholarship Winners’ Breakfast and get prime seating at the large conference events.
The further high points of the inspirational and moving keynotes, and the opportunity to network with colleagues and to meet old friends, made ACRL 2015 one of the most memorable and influential conferences I have attended as a professional.
I surely hope others will be able to attend ACRL conferences in the future with the help of these valuable scholarships.”
