75th Anniversary Scholarship Recipient: Elena Perez-Lizano

As part of the celebration of ACRL’s 75th Anniversary, we’ve asked the ACRL 75th Anniversary scholarship recipients to describe the impact of attending the ACRL 2015 Conference on their professional life and/or their library.

Elena Perez-Lizano is the Archivist at the New Mexico State Archives in Santa Fe.

“Without the Early Career Librarian scholarship, my library could not afford to send me to the conference.  Not only did the scholarship pay for registration, hotel and travel, but I also presented a poster.  I spoke to a number of people, including the editor of Technical Services Quarterly, who later contacted me and asked me to turn the poster into a possible publication on RDA implementation in the small academic library.  The paper will be submitted shortly.  I enjoyed the opportunity to speak with other librarians about RDA implementation, and it was heartening to know that many other libraries face the same challenges that our library faces.”
