75th Anniversary Scholarship Recipient: Kristina M. Edwards

As part of the celebration of ACRL’s 75th Anniversary, we’ve asked the ACRL 75th Anniversary scholarship recipients to describe the impact of attending the ACRL 2015 Conference on their professional life and/or their library.

Kristina M. Edwards is the Acquisitions Librarian at Central Connecticut State University in New Britain, Connecticut.

“I was so fortunate to be able to attend ACRL 2015 in Portland, Oregon.  With so much change going on with my library and within my state, being able to network and meet other people with experience and advice navigating a new library environment was priceless.  I am new to my library and much of the advice and information I got during ACRL 2015 is helping me work with my colleagues to update our collections in a way that is respectful of the various views of our faculty in relation to our collections and how they are used and needed for supporting the curriculum.

The other part of ACRL 2015 that I enjoyed and appreciated was the feeling of rejuvenation that I left with.  Spending that time with librarians from all over the world allowed me to return to my library with a renewed commitment to my library and a greater sense of the work we all perform as librarians and its importance to our communities.”
