Meet the Presidents: Pamela Snelson
Over the course of ACRL’s 75th anniversary celebration, we’ll highlight the association’s history by profiling our past presidents. Pamela Snelson is College Librarian at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and served as ACRL President from 2006 – 2007.
1. Three words to describe your ACRL presidency: Excitement, educational, expository.
2. What is your most enduring memory of your presidential year? Lunching with, and then introducing filmmaker John Waters at the ACRL 2007 Conference in Baltimore.
3. What are you most proud of accomplishing during your presidential year and why? Engaging chief academic officers through a commissioned report, “What Chief Academic Officers Want from Their Libraries” and the ACRL’s President’s Program, The Art of Persuasion: Strategies for Effective Communication with Chief Academic Officers. This set the foundation for ACRL’s work on the value of academic libraries.
4. Any advice for future ACRL presidents? It goes by so quickly; be sure to pause and enjoy it!
