Meet the ACRL Presidents: Camila Alire

Camila AlireOver the course of ACRL’s 75th anniversary celebration, we’ll highlight the association’s history by profiling our past presidents. Camila Alire served as ACRL President from 2005-2006.

1. Three words to describe your ACRL presidency: Awesome, awarding, collaborating!

2. What is your most enduring memory of your presidential year? My presidential program on grassroots advocacy/power of personal persuasion with Robert B. Cialdini as the speaker.

3. What are you most proud of accomplishing during your presidential year and why? The introduction of the grassroots advocacy program and the Power of Personal Persuasion toolkit that was published for academic librarians to understand the concept and to get involved in advocacy at the grassroots level in their institutions.

4. Any advice for future ACRL presidents? Share your passion with your academic librarian colleagues; enjoy the year because it goes by very fast.
