The ALA and ACRL elections now are open and as candidates standing for ACRL Vice-President/President-Elect, we encourage you to vote. ACRL is vital to our profession; focusing on the issues and challenges facing college and research librarians. Voting is one of the privileges of membership that gives us the opportunity to shape and contribute to ACRL’s strategic plan, goals, and future.
The next several years will be extremely momentous in ALA and its divisions as we reshape the organization. The Forward Together initiative, developed by the Steering Committee on Organizational Effectiveness (SCOE), is of importance to ACRL and on many members’ minds. As ALA and its divisions work toward this reorganization, it is imperative that the ACRL membership’s values and interests are represented. We will be sure ACRL’s interests are heard and we pledge to lead ACRL on this new course. We cannot deny that there will be many changes in ACRL. We also believe that some of these changes will provide members with new opportunities to grow and advance in order to meet the challenges facing higher education and academic libraries. We will make every effort to position ACRL as a leader in reshaping our association and we will work with ALA and the other divisions to represent ACRL’s interests.
Thank you for voting to help shape ACRL to better meet the needs of its members in this rapidly changing environment and for your dedication to our professional association.
Sincerely,
Lynn Silipigni Connaway, Ph.D.
