ACRL Election 2021: A Message from the ACRL Vice-President/President-Elect Candidates

The ALA and ACRL elections are open, and we invite and encourage you to cast your vote.

In the lead-up to this election, we have heard from many of you. We’ve learned about your concerns, and we’ve gained insight into your activities and successes. The past year presented academic libraries with unprecedented challenges, but we are encouraged by how you and our professional association have responded to member needs — by developing timely resources, webinars, and LibGuides, reimagining professional development opportunities like ACRL’s popular Roadshow Series, and converting the ACRL 2021 conference into what is sure to be an interactive and robust virtual experience. ACRL has responded to the social movement for racial justice and members’ calls for action and accountability by affirming its Core Commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, and ACRL communities of practice have extended this critical work by establishing EDI committees and task forces and developing relevant training and programming.

While 2020 may be behind us, we know that the coming years will require patience, empathy, collaboration, and leadership. We are committed to responding to member needs, creating more inclusive practices, and advancing ACRL’s vital work during this time of uncertainty and considerable change. Working together as a community, we are confident that we can address the current challenges and emerge a stronger association.

Thank you for voting and for your commitment to ACRL. We look forward to learning from and working with you in the years ahead.

Our best,
