ACRL Information Literacy Web Site Editor Wanted

ACRL seeks a creative and engaged ACRL member volunteer with broad experience in web page authoring and web site maintenance for a three-year appointment as Editor of the ACRL Information Literacy Web Site. Complete details about editor responsibilities and application instructions are available at The application deadline is March 11.

The site, hosted on the ALA server, currently provides links to standards, best practices, and other resources for librarians and other educators, with focus on areas such as collaboration, assessment, and information literacy in the disciplines, as well as information about professional development programs, grants, and related organizations.

ALA is currently engaged in a project with OJC Technologies to migrate the web site to the open source Drupal platform. In preparation for the migration, existing content is being reviewed, materials no longer needed are being archived and removed, links are being repaired, and missing accessibility features are being added. Once migration is complete, the Editor will play a leading role in re-conceptualizing and redesigning this high-profile web site, with a goal of increasing its prominence in higher education.

The Editor works under the guidance and direction of the ACRL Information Literacy Web Site Committee, a component group of the ACRL Information Literacy Coordinating Committee, and will serve on the Web Site Committee in an ex-officio capacity. Technical support for the Drupal CMS will be available from ALA Information Technology & Telecommunication Services (ITTS) and ACRL staff.

The Editor serves an initial three-year appointment, with possible renewal, starting at the end of the ALA Annual Conference in June and running through the Annual Conference of the third year.
