ACRL Member of the Week: Kimberly Bailey

Kimberly Bailey is a reference/instruction librarian at the University of Pittsburgh-Bradford. Kimberly has been a member of ACRL for 16 years and is your ACRL Member of the Week for August 8, 2022.

Describe yourself in three words: Relatable, authentic, extrovert.

What are you reading (or listening to on your mobile device)? I am reading CBT for Beginners by Jane Simmons.

Describe ACRL in three words: Valuable, interactive, educational.

What do you value about ACRL? I value the ACRL Conferences and the ACRL section work the most! I thrive when working and networking with librarians from diverse backgrounds.

What do you as an academic librarian contribute to your campus? I provide the tools and education to ensure that undergraduate students become well grounded researchers in their areas of study. I also provide support to faculty.

In your own words: My main job is to provide reference assistance and library instruction to the Pitt-Bradford Community. I serve as the liaison librarian to the biological & health disciplines, the physical & computational disciplines, business, hospitality, and nursing. I collect resources in the aforementioned areas to support the curriculum and embed into courses as needed. In addition, I provide service to the University Library System, the Pitt-Bradford Campus, and other outside organizations. I am currently involved in the ACRL Science and Technology Section, but also keep close relationships in the ACRL Distance and Online Learning Section.
