Describe yourself in three words: Resilient, adaptable, inclusive.

What are you reading (or listening to on your mobile device)? I’m currently reading Esau McCaulley’s book titled Reading While Black: African American Biblical Interpretation as an Exercise in Hope.

Describe ACRL in three words: Invaluable, informative, collaborative.

What do you value about ACRL? I value and cherish the opportunity that ACRL puts together every other year for us to share research, best practices or just to network with colleagues. I value the quality publications that are published by ACRL including the College & Research Libraries journal and the College and Research Libraries News magazine and appreciate that they are published open access. Last but not least, I’m grateful for the ACRL Framework on Information Literacy and how it has provided a guideline, and a starting point, as well as informed my teaching in Information Literacy.

What do you as an academic librarian contribute to your campus? Working with international library initiatives helps me contribute to the internationalization of our campus while also increasing our global impact. Welcoming international librarians on our campus for a one-month professional development program helps me facilitate collaborations and partnerships among LIS professionals globally.

In your own words: Academic Librarianship allows me to engage with both research and practice aspects of LIS and not feel like I have to do one at the expense of the other. Working in higher education pushes me to think about evidence-based practice (research) and pushes me to always keep learning and strive for excellence.
