Apply for ACRL 2025 Scholarships, Spectrum Scholar Travel Grants by October 11

ACRL is offering more than $90,000 of scholarships to subsidize in-person and virtual attendance at the ACRL 2025 Conference to be held April 2-5, 2025, in Minneapolis and online. Scholarships provide increased opportunities for members of the academic and research library community to expand their professional horizons, update their skills and knowledge, and stay current on recent developments and challenges in the profession. Scholarship applications to attend the conference are due on Friday, October 11.

You do not need to be an ALA or ACRL member to apply. Scholarships are available in the following categories:

  • Early-career librarians = less than six years of post-MLS professional experience in a librarian role (excluding work study or student work) since receiving your MLS (or Masters/PhD/equivalent)
  • Mid-career librarians = more than six and less than fifteen years of post-MLS professional experience in a librarian role (excluding work study or student work) since receiving your MLS (or Masters/PhD/equivalent)
  • Career librarian = more than fifteen years of post-MLS professional experience in a librarian role
  • Library school students and recent graduates (current students or less than 2 years since graduation and seeking employment in a librarian role)
  • Library professional and support staff (positions that do not require an MLS or Masters/PhD/equivalent)

The ACRL Conference Scholarship Committee will score applications based on responses to open-ended questions. In awarding scholarships, preference will be given to:

  • applicants from diverse cultural/ethnic backgrounds
  • applicants employed at institutions or in positions serving under-represented groups
  • applicants employed at community, junior, or technical colleges
  • applicants who are international

Spectrum Scholar Travel Grants

ACRL Spectrum Scholar Travel Grants provide opportunities for Spectrum Scholars to participate in ACRL professional development activities at the conference, to expand their network of colleagues, and to have face-to-face time to build new—or strengthen existing—relationships with their mentors. Four (4) awards include a waiver of the conference student registration fee (a $99 value), plus a travel stipend (typically $700, occasionally less if travel expenses are lower due to applicant’s location).

Complete details, including eligibility, application requirements, and selection criteria are available on the Spectrum Scholar Travel Grants page on the ACRL 2025 website. Spectrum Scholar Travel Grant applications are due on Friday, October 11.

As part of its commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, ACRL invites you to give to the ACRL Friends Fund to help directly impact these efforts. Thank you in advance for your consideration!
