ACRL is accepting applications for new faculty for the Immersion Program. Now in its seventeenth year, the Immersion Program brings together academic librarians for four to five days of intensive work in teaching and information literacy. With more than 2,000 graduates of previous national and regional sessions, the Immersion Program has transformed individuals, students, and instruction programs nationally and internationally. The faculty is currently engaged in a major program revision, based upon assessment data and feedback from Immersion alumni and the academic library community. We are looking for candidates who can bring a fresh perspective and creative ideas to this revision process.
The current Immersion Program curriculum is divided into six tracks. In addition to these foundational programs, ACRL and the Immersion faculty look forward to new innovations in our curriculum. We are seeking experienced academic librarians and instructional designers who will help us analyze and re-envision the curriculum and take Immersion in new and exciting directions.
Current faculty members agree teaching in the Immersion Program is the most energizing and challenging professional development experience in which they have ever participated. Faculty members have direct opportunity to influence the future of information literacy and to further expand its impact as an educational change agenda.
The complete Call for Immersion Faculty is available online. Application materials must submitted via email by 11:59 p.m. Central time on Friday, November 4, 2016 to Margot Conahan, ACRL Manager of Professional Development, at firstname.lastname@example.org. Candidates will be interviewed in person at the ALA Midwinter Meeting in January 2017. Applicants invited for an in-person interview will be notified by December 1, 2016 and may be required to provide additional information in mid-November.
