There’s Still Time to #GiveACRL This Holiday Season

Our generous donors have extended their Giving Tuesday matching gifts up to $8,750 through the end of the year, so there’s still time to support the Friends of ACRL.

Please consider a gift to the ACRL Conference Scholarship Fund in support of the ACRL 2021 Conference Scholarship Campaign by December 31, 2019. There is no better value for the money and no better way to make a double difference.

Your gift will . . .

Spread Joy

Twenty-nine library school students received scholarships to attend the ACRL 2019 Conference in Cleveland. Your gift can help future students connect with the larger community of academic librarians and forge relationships that will help them develop as future colleagues. Your gift is guaranteed to inspire gratitude and deep appreciation.

True story: “Attending the 2019 ACRL conference allowed me to gain new perspectives on academic librarianship, and it was great to learn current trends from various sessions. The conference also gave me a chance to participate in events like receptions and workshops where I met librarians who are experts in their field. Without the scholarship, I would not have been able to have this amazing opportunity as a student, and I really appreciate that I had the chance to attend the 2019 ACRL conference.” – ACRL 2019 Conference Scholarship Recipient Soojeong Herring

True story: “As a new librarian working in the relatively new field of Open Educational Resources, the support, networking, and education around that subject at ACRL was an incredible benefit. I am actively incorporating the knowledge I gained at conference each day in my current position as OER Coordinator!” – ACRL 2019 Conference Scholarship Recipient Tonya Ferrell

Double in Value

Seventy-two mid-career academic and research librarians received scholarship support. Gifts to the ACRL Conference Scholarship Fund will be matched up to $8,750 until December 31, 2019, and will be instrumental in helping mid-career colleagues embrace new leadership roles and transform their libraries.

True story: “While I have been an academic librarian for 10 years, tight budgets have meant that I was never able to attend the ACRL Conference. With the help of the Mid-Career Scholarship, I was able to attend the 2019 ACRL Conference in Cleveland. Being able to network with other academic librarians, see what they are doing in their libraries, and glean ideas and applications for my own library was invaluable. The summary of takeaways that I sent to my colleagues was eight pages long. Without the financial support provided by this scholarship, I would never have been able to learn about the wide variety of innovative practices and ideas at academic libraries across the country or to network with fellow academic librarians and discuss our common challenges and potential solutions. Thank you so much for allowing me to attend this conference.” – ACRL 2019 Conference Scholarship Recipient Amy James

Give Two Holiday Gifts

Honor someone with a tribute gift and support scholarships for library support staff members who hope to attend the ACRL 2021 Conference. Your gift of appreciation will delight a colleague and help to make the ACRL Conference an inclusive experience for all who work in libraries.

True story: “The ACRL scholarship allowed me to attend the 2019 conference in Cleveland. I found it to be an enriching and extremely rewarding experience. As a paraprofessional with intentions of transitioning into a full-time professional librarian position, I was pleased with the programming. I found myself coming away with so much that I could apply to my present position in Access Services. I also took so much away in terms of what it means to ‘be a librarian’ in term of my long-term career goals. On a personal and professional level, the ACRL conference was beyond compare. I am so fortunate and humbled to have been awarded the opportunity to attend on one of the 2019 scholarships!” – ACRL 2019 Conference Scholarship Recipient Lucas Berrini

We sincerely appreciate your generosity this holiday season!
