1. Describe yourself in three words: Creative, jazzed, ambitious.

2. What are you reading (or listening to on your mobile device)? I just started The Rules Do Not Apply: A Memoir by Ariel Levy and am just about done with Undergraduate Research & the Academic Librarian: Case Studies and Best Practices edited by Merinda Kaye Hensley and Stephanie Davis-Kahl.

3. Describe ACRL in three words: Community, collaborators, ideas.

4. What do you value about ACRL? I value the community of practice that ACRL helps to cultivate. I enjoy being able to read and hear about what other academic librarians are doing with their students at their institutions and get inspired by their work. Especially as a new professional, I appreciate the ACRL network, which helps me meet new librarians and discover new collaborators.

5. What do you as an academic librarian contribute to your campus? As the student engagement librarian, I have three main roles: being a liaison to non-academic units on campus (undergraduate research, student affairs, housing and residence life, university fellowships, student government, etc.); collaborating and supporting our commonwealth libraries/librarians doing student engagement work; and finally, helping make student employment in the library meaningful (training for peer research consultants and leading a student advisory board).

6. In your own words: In my role, I get the chance to teach, do outreach, plan events, meet with stakeholders, and ultimately help think about how the library can continue to support the students of Penn State in and out of the classroom. Each day is an adventure and I like it that way.
