Hosted at Yale Library, the conference will critically examine colonialism’s impact on libraries and cultural heritage institutions and explore practices that make collections more inclusive and representative of often marginalized voices.

- Learn about returning cultural artifacts, manuscripts, and other items to their countries or communities of origin, particularly if those items were acquired through colonial exploitation or coercion.
- Discuss how to revise and update cataloging practices to ensure that descriptions, terminologies, and metadata reflect the perspectives and rights of the communities represented, rather than perpetuating colonial biases.
- Consider fostering dialogue and partnerships with Indigenous peoples and other marginalized groups to repair relationships and ensure that their histories and cultures are accurately and respectfully represented.
