Thank You, ACRL Member Volunteers!

As ACRL President, I would like to express my deep appreciation for the many contributions ACRL volunteers have made to the association this past program year. With terms ending at the close of the 2024 ALA Annual Conference, ACRL will finish this program year with optimism for what lies ahead, in large part because of the dedication of member volunteers.

As my term as ACRL President is coming to an end, I hope that, as members of the ACRL community, we continue to have the pleasure of working together with the many resolute ACRL member leaders advancing the ACRL Plan for Excellence and commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. If, for professional purposes, you would like a more detailed letter outlining your accomplishments while leading this committee, please contact your committee’s ACRL staff liaison, so that one can be prepared. Again, thank you and I wish you every success in the coming year.

I am also sharing a note on behalf of ACRL Vice-President/President-Elect Leo Lo to sincerely thank the many volunteers for expressing interest in serving on an ACRL membership group for terms starting July 1, 2024. At this time, most of our 2024-2025 positions have been filled. Congratulations to those who were asked and accepted to serve! Like in past years, we received more volunteers than positions available. If you did not receive an appointment offer, there may be additional opportunities, which will be posted on ACRL communication channels, for service this coming year.

Remember, membership group service is only one of many ways to connect with colleagues through ACRL. I invite you to consider seeking a role in sections, interest groups, and discussion groups; writing for C&RL News, C&RL, CHOICE, or other ACRL publications; or presenting at conferences – ALA and ACRL – and online fora.  And if you are interested in other ways to get involved, the ACRL Get Involved page offers a complete guide to the many avenues ACRL offers to learn, contribute, and lead.

The success of ACRL depends upon the dedication and service of great members like you. Again, thank you for your willingness to share your time and talents with ACRL.

With warm regards,

Beth McNeil
