ANSS has three discussion groups, anthropology , sociology, and criminal justice/criminology, which provide an opportunity to discuss issues regarding reference, collection development, bibliographic instruction, current publications, core collections, databases, and other topics of interest. The discussion groups meet at every ALA conference and have a topical presentation and discussion.
Recent topics of the Anthropology Librarians Discussion Group have included blogs, GIS, Anthrosource, and ethnographies. The Sociology Librarians Discussion Group has covered new vendor databases, collection development, and developing a core list of serials for sociology. The Criminal Justice/Criminology Librarians Discussion Group has discussed new products, criminal justice programs, and the research needs of criminal justice students.
