Membership and Outreach

  • This committee recruits and surveys new members, as well as enhances networking and communications. This committee will be looking for new members, and if you have interest please contact Kai Alexis Smith.
  • There has been a 6% increase in membership, 14 new members, and a 33% increase in student and support staff memberships.
  • This committee has launched a new website, developed a social media policy, and created a new blog.
  • In the future this committee will partner with the ACRL Arts Section Strategic Planning Committee to develop a personnel survey of its section members.

  • A new website was created in March and most of the materials from the old site have been transferred. There is now a blog, twitter, and Facebook feed.
  • This committee will also work on a members spotlight and creating new ways to connect members to each other.

Conference Program Planning Committee

  • The Conference Planning Committee is co-sponsoring a program with the Literatures in English Section and the over-all theme is Chicago Arts & Architecture in Literature. A call for speakers was put out to a number of list-servs and thus far some interesting proposals have come forth. The proposal for this panel is due in September.

Publications and Research Committee

  • The Publications and Research Committee held a webinar in November with ARLIS/NA and a copy of this can be found on the ARLIS/NA website at https://www.pathlms.com/arlisna/events/462

Report from the Board

  • The board is currently working on the framework for information literacy in higher education. The board approved the framework and is working to determine if the framework and standards need to co-exist.
  • Last year the board created a task force on community college library engagement.
  • There is also a new task force that will be looking at library schools and requirement for accreditation and what this will look like in the future.
