We’ve asked the ACRL 2017 Conference scholarship recipients to describe the impact of attending the ACRL 2017 Conference on their professional life and/or their library.
Melissa Mallon is the director of the Peabody Library at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN.
“Attending ACRL 2017 as a “mid-career” librarian provided me with a professional development opportunity that mirrors where I am in my career: learning and growing as a leader but also serving as a mentor to new professionals. I was able to explore the intersection between these two areas, and benefited greatly from the discussions and presentations from librarians that have so much to offer – both accomplished professionals and those with fresh new perspectives. The scholarship afforded me the chance to leverage existing networks and make many new and valuable connections that I will appreciate throughout the next phase of my career.
Thank you again for the opportunity to engage in ACRL in this way!”
