We’ve asked the ACRL 2017 Conference scholarship recipients to describe the impact of attending the ACRL 2017 Conference on their professional life and/or their library.

Michelle B. BassMichelle B. Bass is a population research librarian at Stanford University in Stanford, CA.

“This was my first ACRL as a full-time librarian and the face-to-face networking and interactions were by far the most important takeaway for me from the conference. I was able to re-connect with graduate school colleagues who have, like me, taken different roads to librarianship as well as meet colleagues I had been following virtually on Twitter for the past few years. In the future, I can use these connections to work on consortia projects and connect my local colleagues with national counterparts to discuss relevant topics and problems. The opportunity to hear Dr. Carla Hayden speak was another very special highlight from the Baltimore conference and one I won’t soon forget. I didn’t have a chance to get a selfie with her but I like to tell myself that there will be other opportunities for me to meet and work with this inspirational library leader.”
