ALFIN: tu puerta al conocimiento” (InfoLit: your gateway to knowledge)
Español: Se presenta “ALFIN: tu puerta al conocimiento”: un Recurso Educativo Abierto (REA)
“ALFIN: tu puerta al conocimiento” es un curso virtual modular que enseña de forma asincrónica las competencias básicas de ALFIN según el marco de la ACRL. Su diseño autoevaluable significa que el curso es escalable para enseñar a una mayor cantidad de estudiantes. El contenido está dirigido a estudiantes de nivel de licenciatura. El curso se distribuye de forma gratuíta y las bibliotecas que lo implementen pueden usarlo tal y como se presenta o pueden modificarlo de acuerdo a sus necesidades y contextos institucionales.
El Recurso Educativo Abierto (REA) “ALFIN: tu puerta al conocimiento” es el producto de un grupo internacional de cinco instituciones (Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla, El Colegio de México, la Universidad de Guadalajara, la Universidad Veracruzana y la University of West Georgia). Ese grupo colaborativo llamado “ALFIN sin fronteras”, se formó con el propósito de hacer una adaptación lingüística y cultural de un curso parecido, LibraryDen – un REA creado para la University of West Georgia durante la Pandemia COVID-19 – para la distribución gratuíta al mundo hispanohablante.
“ALFIN: tu puerta al conocimiento”, está disponible en el sitio web del proyecto para las plataformas Canvas y Moodle. La versión en inglés tiene partes en Springshare LibGuides, Springshare LibWizard y Brightspace Desire2Learn. Este año, Jennifer Baker, estudiante de maestría de la University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, ayudará a colocar la versión en inglés en Canvas para facilitar la distribución de esa versión a nivel mundial.
Ambas versiones del curso (el español y el inglés) y el proyecto, son dinámicos. El grupo colaborativo está desarrollando un módulo sobre la alfabetización en inteligencia artificial (IA) que saldrá en una próxima versión. El sitio web del proyecto tiene un control de versiones para que las instituciones que adopten el curso sepan cuando quieran actualizar sus archivos o contenidos. También se agregará un foro para la creación de una comunidad de las instituciones usuarias.
El 28 de abril 2026 se llevó a cabo un webinario “ALFIN: tu puerta al conocimiento, un REA para el mundo hispanohablante,” organizado por la Sección de IFLA Library Services for Multicultural Populations con la participación de Anne C. Barnhart de la University of West Georgia como moderadora y María Lourdes Quiroa Herrera de El Colegio de México e Irma Leticia Hermández de la Universidad de Guadalajara como ponentes. English: Presenting “ALFIN: tu puerta al conocimiento” (InfoLit: your gateway to knowledge), an Open Educational Resource (OER)
“ALFIN: tu puerta al conocimiento” (InfoLit: your gateway to knowledge) is an online modular course to that asynchronously teaches basic information literacy competencies in alignment with the ACRL Framework. Geared toward undergraduate students, its autograded design makes the course scalable for teaching different sized populations. As an OER with a Creative Commons license, the course is available for free; libraries can either use the course as is or can modify it to meet their institutional contexts and needs.
The OER ALFIN tu puerta al conocimiento is the product of an international group of five institutions (Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla, El Colegio de México, la Universidad de Guadalajara, la Universidad Veracruzana y la University of West Georgia). This collaborative group, called ALFIN sin fronteras (InfoLit without Borders), was created with the goal of creating a linguistic and cultural adaptation for the Spanish-speaking world of a similar OER, LibraryDen, created at the University of West Georgia during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
The Spanish-language ALFIN tu puerta al conocimiento is available through the project’s website for both Canvas and Moodle making it readily available for libraries to use. The English-language version has parts in Springshare LibGuides, Springshare LibWizard, and Brightspace Desire2Learn. This year Jennifer Baker, a graduate student from the iSchool at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, will help transfer the English version to Canvas to increase its global availability and impact.
Both versions of the course and the project itself are dynamic. The group is currently developing an AI-literacy module that will be in the next release and the project website has a page dedicated to tracking releases so institutions who have adopted the course can know when they might want updated files. The site will also have a discussion space to foster a community of institutional users.
On April 28, 2026 IFLA’s Library Services to Multicultural Populations held a webinar to introduce ALFIN: tu puerta al conocimiento to a global audience. Anne C. Barnhart (University of West Georgia) moderated a conversation between María Lourdes Quiroa Herrera (El Colegio de México) and Irma Leticia Hernández García (Universidad de Guadalajara) about the course and the project.
