Spring 2019, Vol. 42, No. 2
In the 2017 fall semester, I did an exhibit of rare books in our Special Collections called “For Better, For Worse: Advice about Marriage from Early Modern English Conduct Books.” The exhibit was located in some show cases in our Library lobby where our public telephone booths used to be located.
I was very fortunate in summer and fall, 2018, to obtain the help of our web services librarian Jenny Brandon, who has digitized the display.
The label texts are by me. Conservation staff took digital pictures of the pages of each book that was on display. You can click on the open pages to obtain a version that is readable on your computer screen. The art images were on the back walls of two of the three display cases; they come from ARTStor, the database of art images used for teaching. There is a short bibliography at the end.
It is especially rewarding to do book exhibits when they can be put online and made available for more people to see afterwards.
