RIG’s Programs & Proposals team would like to share upcoming calls for participation for local and national conferences. This round-up was composed by team member Taylor Hixson. You can read more about her experiences at Geo4Lib Conference in our Conference Events feature.
1: The Towson Conference for Academic Libraries (TCAL) is pleased to invite session proposals for its 2nd annual conference at Towson University on Tuesday, July 25, 2017.
We are interested in 60 minute individual or group interactive presentations, 30 minute individual or group interactive presentations, 60 minute panel sessions, and poster presentations.

Proposals might focus on any of the following areas:
- Customer Service Circulation
- Consortia Agreements
- Electronic Resources and Access Services
- Interlibrary Loan
- Space Management
- Stacks Maintenance
- Student Worker Management
- Current Technology for Access Service Enhancement

11-13: LOEX, Lexington, KY
The Association of Research Libraries (ARL) is accepting applications for the Initiative to Recruit a Diverse Workforce (IRDW), a program designed to recruit master of library and information science (MLIS) students from traditionally underrepresented ethnic and racial minority groups into careers in research libraries and archives. The IRDW includes:
- A stipend of up to $10,000 over two years in support of MLIS education
- Leadership and career development training
- A site visit to an ARL member library
- Financial support for skills development
- A formal mentorship program
Marketing Libraries Journal (MLJ) is a new peer-reviewed, independently published, open access journal that focuses on innovative marketing activities that libraries are engaged in. Our aim is to publish research and practical examples of library marketing campaigns, library marketing research, public relations campaigns, SWOT analysis, segmentation research, assessment of marketing activities, and tools used for marketing. In addition to peer reviewed articles, the Journal also contains practical articles from different columns. Columnists will be accepting short articles on advocacy, branding, library marketing campaigns, “from the trenches”, and technology tools. The Journal is published twice a year.

RIG is coordinating a meetup for those attending ALA annual. Keep an eye open for more information about how to network with fellow residents, coordinators, and librarians!
