The Upstate Medical University Health Sciences Library (HSL) invites applications from early-career Librarians who have a demonstrated commitment to diverse and historically underrepresented populations for our three-year, tenure track, Diversity Fellowship program. The purpose of the Fellowship is to enrich the profession by introducing new perspectives and encouraging dialogue among Librarians from diverse backgrounds.
The successful candidate will be an innovative and creative individual who looks forward to working with a variety of customer groups, including but not limited to, clinical, community members, researchers, students, and faculty, to develop and grow services that support the academic, clinical, community, and research endeavors of Upstate Medical University.

The Fellow will select a ‘home base’ that aligns with the Fellow’s career aspirations. The HSL is particularly interested in candidates whose professional goals are consistent with current Library priorities in the areas of: archives & special collections, assessment, community engagement, discovery services, instruction & outreach, and resource management.
The Fellow will lead projects that meaningfully
contribute to HSL operations and services and is encouraged to take
advantage of project-related presentation and publication opportunities.
The Fellow will engage in an extensive on-boarding experience designed to promote familiarity with librarianship and the full spectrum of HSL operational and service commitments.
The Fellow will participate on Library and University committees, such as Diversity Council, faculty governance, search committees, etc. The HSL encourages participation in professional associations.

Candidates must have an ALA-accredited Master’s degree in library information science or a commensurate degree.

Candidates must have a general knowledge of literature searching, print and digital resources through coursework, pre-professional or professional experience is expected.
Candidates must be committed to working with clinicians, faculty, students, patients and family members at an Academic Health Sciences Center.
