The University of Wisconsin-Madison Libraries is now seeking candidates for its Resident Librarian Program established in 2013. This program provides an opportunity for entry-level librarians from diverse backgrounds to begin their professional careers and develop skills and experience in academic librarianship. This program is designed to meet both the professional goals and interests of the Librarian and the service and operational priorities of the Libraries, and to encourage the involvement of underrepresented populations in academic librarianship.
This is a three-year placement designed to encourage and promote professional growth and development of recent graduates. It provides a broad-based awareness of principles and practices in an area of academic library specialization. The following placements are available for this position and the selection of the Librarian will be based on how well the applicant provides information on their suitability to one of these placements.
Digital Library Services
This position will work with the Digital Curation Coordinator and the Digital Services Librarian to gain professional skills and growth in the areas of digital preservation policy and stewardship; digital collections curation, description, capture and delivery; research data services; institutional digital repository policies and stewardship; data analytics and assessment for library services and applications.
Open Educational Resources
This position will be key to UW-Madison’s transition from ad-hoc support for interested instructors to a coordinated campus-level effort to encourage instructors to create, adopt, and adapt affordable course content. This position will coordinate a campus-wide working group; manage collaborative outreach and education activities; participate in provision of copyright and licensing support for authors; contribute to development of library publishing services related to OER; and actively participate in both state-level and international networks of institutions and advocates.
The UW-Madison Libraries will also support professional development and service activities in the library, on campus, and in the wider academic library community, including conference attendance and opportunities to develop a presentation or publication based on the Resident’s UW-Madison activities.

- MA/MS in Library/Information Studies, or field related to placement
- Strong oral and written communication skills

Salary: $52,000 with an excellent benefits package
