Syracuse University Welcome Two!

The Syracuse University Library has announced the appointment of two resident librarians, Fantasia Thorne and Tina Chan.

Fantasia Thorne earned her M.L.I.S from Simmons College in 2007, following a B.A. in English Arts from Southern Connecticut State University.  Currently working on an advanced degree in English, she began her service on September 1, 2009.

Fatasia’s previous work experience includes being a reference librarian at the New Haven Free Public Library and, an archives and catalog assistant in the Yale University Divinity School Library.  She is active professionally in ALA’s Black Caucus and Office of Literacy and Outreach Services.

Tina Chan received her M.L.I.S. from Simmons college in 2009, this is supplemented by her B.A. in psychology and M.A. in Asian American studies from San Francisco State University.  She began her service on September 16, 2009.

Tina has served as the gifts processing assistant and records management assistant at the Morton R. Godine Library of the Massachusetts College of Art and Design.  She was also a preservation intern at the State Library of Massachusetts.  An active learner she has received several scholarships and travel grants to supplement her professional development activities.

In addition to traditional library services Fantasia and Tina will participate in studies of undergraduate learning and communication behaviors.
