The ACRL Education and Behavioral Sciences Section (EBSS) Communication Studies Committee invites you to its inaugural webinar, Practical Sharing: Newspaper Aggregators Virtual Webinar, on Tuesday, March 18, at 11:00 am (PST)/12:00 pm (MST)/1:00 pm (CST)/2:00 pm (EST).
The inaugural Practical Sharing will feature Stacy R. Gilbert and Kyung Kim, two of the authors of the Journal of Electronic Resources Librarianship article “Evaluation of six news aggregator databases: a comparison for researchers and librarians.” They will present their research and recommendations, including the rationale for news aggregators chosen; practical use cases for the comparison guide; discussion around any changes in or considerations of API access, especially in light of text and data mining projects; plus Q&A.

Presenters:
Stacy Gilbert is an Associate Professor and Social Sciences Librarian at the University of Colorado Boulder. She supports students, faculty and researchers in the subject areas of advertising, public relations and media design (APRD), communication, journalism and media studies. Her research interests are primarily in understanding the research practices in the advertising and journalism fields and analyzing news aggregator databases.
Kyung Kim is the Director of the Social Sciences Program at Florida State University Libraries. Her liaison areas encompass Communication and four other Social Sciences disciplines. An adjunct faculty member at FSU’s iSchool, Kyung has taught a variety of courses, including advanced online searching and business librarianship. Her recent work focuses on providing doctoral support aligned with the graduate lifecycle, assisting researchers with systematic reviews, and educating faculty and students about Generative AI-powered tools for literature reviews.
